Is There a Sketchbook Graveyard in Your House?

You know the ones. The beautiful sketchbooks with a handful of finished pages at the beginning – and dozens of blank pages waiting behind them.

Sometimes the problem isn't talent or motivation. Sometimes the page simply feels too big, too precious, or too open–ended.

That's why this challenge was designed around a pocket-sized sketchbook. Each page is small enough to feel manageable, quick enough to fit into real life, and lo-pressure enough to let you experiment, make mistakes and keep going.

Just open the day's lesson, pick up your pencil, and make the next page.

Eight Tiny Peeks. Twenty-Three Surprises.

These Arn't 31 Generic Fall Drawing Prompts

You won't be opening your sketchbook each morning to another predictable maple leaf or generic fall doodle.
I spent the last two months dreaming up and hand-drawing every illustration in this Challenge specifically for this experience.

Day 2
I Cast  a Spell on You

Day 4
Pedaling into Autumn

Day 5
Apple Pickin'

Day 11
Something Wicked is Brewing

Day 13
October Colors

Day 17
Cozy Cabin

Day 23
When the Candles Flicker

Day 29
Best Boo

Part of the fun is not knowing exactly what will appear next. I have chosen eight pages to share as a little preview of the cozy, colorful, and delightfully spooky world we'll be creating together.

How the Challenge Works

Every daily lesson follows a simple, supportive process that takes you from "I don't know where to start" to a finished sketchbook page.

See the Drawing Simply

Learn how to break each illustration into basic shapes.

Practice Without Pressure

Use the practice area on your printable to draw along and make adjustments.

Play With Color First

Test different color combinations with the mini thumbnails.

Create Your Final Sketchbook Page

Redraw or trace the template, color with Mallery, and add final outlines.

Some days you may want to draw every line yourself. Other days, tracing the template may be what helps you keep showing up. Both count.

Start Before October Begins

Join now and you can get inside the Challenge right away. You'll get the supply list, materials + intro lessons, marker swatching, and a few simple drawing exercises so your sketchbook is already broken in before October 1.

You'll fill about 8 pages before Day 1 – and if you're too excited to wait, Day 1 is unlocked early too.

A New Little Surprise Every Day

Beginning October 1, one new lesson will unlock each day.

You won't see future lessons in advance – that's part of the fun! Once a lesson unlocks, it remains available through December 31, 2026.

A Creative Habit You Can Be Proud Of

Mark off your progress with the printable 31-day habit tracker.

Share your work (optional) using #MalleryJane31 and connect with other participants, or keep your sketchbook as a quiet, personal project.
